Read to a child.

You're likely to enjoy it. He's likely to graduate.

ReadingPals

Children who are read to are more likely to become good readers. And children who read at grade level by the fourth grade are four times more likely to graduate from high school.

Become a ReadingPal. ReadingPals is a program where volunteers provide positive reinforcement to a child while enhancing their literacy skills. Not only do ReadingPals help improve reading support, but they also help kids to develop a love of reading.

A two-hour training is provided to all new ReadingPals. After completing the training session and undergoing a background screening, volunteers will be matched with a student in kindergarten through 3rd grade. Volunteers commit to meet with their ReadingPals after school once a week (or every other week with a partner) throughout the school year. Volunteers will read with students, as well as engage with them in learning activities and games.

There are twenty-five afterschool sites to choose from across Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties.

Thank you for your interest in becoming a ReadingPal. Have questions? Contact Nicole Brown for more information.
